Map Shows Celebrity Home in California Wildfire Path

A map created by Newsweek shows how close one celebrity’s home is to the raging Airport Fire in Orange and Riverside counties in Southern California.
The Airport Fire started in Trabuco Canyon in Orange County last week when public works crews were working to dissuade public access to a fire-sensitive area, KABC-TV in Los Angeles reported.
Firefighting crews immediately began an aggressive attack when the fire was only seven acres, the Orange County Fire Authority said. However, hot, dry conditions have increased the blaze to more than 23,000 acres. So far this week, the firefighters have made good progress combating the flames, and the fire was 31 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to an OCFA post.
However, dozens of evacuation orders and evacuation warnings remain in place as the flames threaten more than 20,000 homes near Los Angeles. One of the homes in the fire’s path is that of Vicki Gunvalson, a TV personality best known for her role on the reality television series Real Housewives of Orange County.
Gunvalson lives in Coto de Caza, a private Orange County community southwest of the Airport Fire. She bought her home in 2021 for $1.035 million, according to Realtor.com, and listed it for nearly $1.6 million in 2022, although reports say it never sold.
Gunvalson loves the house, according to People magazine. “It’s a great house,” she said when she listed it for sale.
OCFA Captain Steve Concialdi, a public information officer for the Airport Fire, told Newsweek that the large blaze has “impacted numerous homes in many different communities over two counties.”
Gunvalson’s home is within the evacuation warning area, meaning there is “a potential threat to life and/or property.” People are not ordered to evacuate within these zones but should prepare for evacuation because situations can change suddenly.
“Those who require additional time to evacuate and those with pets and livestock should leave immediately,” the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) said about the evacuation warning.
Sources say that Gunvalson has not had to evacuate from her home, according to a report by website Reality Tea.
Since the fire ignited, nearly 200 structures have been destroyed, including 120 homes. Thirty-four structures have been damaged, and 14 injuries have been reported, including fire personnel and civilians.
Concialdi said there haven’t been more injuries because residents heeded the evacuation orders and left the area before the flames could spread.
Favorable weather conditions on Monday aided firefighters in their fight against the flames.
“Priorities were on the east and west sides of the incident between the fire and communities at risk. Control lines were improved as firefighters searched for and extinguished heat near the fire line,” CAL FIRE shared in its most recent update.
It continued: “A weak cold front is forecasted again Wednesday and Thursday followed by fair weather Friday. Drier conditions are expected this weekend with highs in the 80s and 90s. Predicted fire activity is described as minimal which should provide firefighters opportunities to continue their progress in strengthening fire lines and increase fire containment.”
Two other wildfires are raging nearby: the Line Fire in San Bernardino County and the Bridge Fire in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
